This past Sunday, on Mother's Day, I went with my hsuband and mother to visit my aunt. My aunt Susan, the strongest, most amazing woman I know who is a spitting image of my grandmother, who WAS the most amazing woman I have ever known.
My aunt is battling brain cancer. She is strong. She is amazing. She is incredible. But she is sick. Very sick. She has trouble moving around, simple steps are difficult, and she can't speak. The chemo and radiation have made her a different person. But looking in her eyes, you can just see that she's still in there. She's fighting. She's fighting hard. And her husband Gerry is incredible. He is with her, he is there for her, 24 hours a day. And he still looks at her the same way he did when they first met.
Their relationship amazes me, it inspires me, and it's something that I see my husband and I having throughout our lives.
Please keep her in your thoughts and hope, like I do, that she will win this battle like she has won her other battles so far.
